Not-a-Number (NaN) is now available to be used as for an unknown or indeterminate value. The NaN symbol () is entered from the keyboard using the key combination Alt-5. The value is unsigned. is a fixed-precision Floating Point NaN. ∅r1 and ∅x are both multi-precision Rational NaNs. ∅v is a multi-precision Floating Point NaN.

Arithmetic on NaN returns NaN unchanged. The only operation on a NaN which returns other than NaN is equality and inequality.

For example,

      ∅=0
0
      ∅≡0
0
      ∅=∅ 0 ∅
1 0 1
      ∅≡∅
